from cka site..i stole...... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please for a minute, all politics aside, and this infighting that hurts the Sport we love and are passionate about. it was / is Jeffs dream to build a race track. Myself , with the help of a couple people brought this venue to market, Yes CKA infrastructure helped make that possible, however you need not be a member CKA to race on this track, this is a kart drivers track, for all to enjoy so please dont worry about affiliations, lets just have fun for all are welcome here thank you, Lornn

Can I ask a stupid question (I'm in management - it's what I do!)? What are the benefits of a club or association, at least as it pertains to grass-roots racing? Is it a means to provide consistency, structure and unity, or just a training ground for junior politicians (please note sarcasm)? The reason I ask is that from a cage kart perspective, in all the years I have been involved in this end of the sport, I have only been part of a club once - the NSKC at SlymeDog. Otherwise, you show up at a track , pay your pit fees and kart entry, and race, as a promoter runs the program and handles all the logistics. This can present a different set of problems, of course, but life seems so much simpler this way. Is it possible for a dedicated, honest, motivated and personable individual(s) to help define the future of kart racing in WA state, without titles, politics or drama (no, I'm not volunteering)? I only know of this situation through the message boards, as I am not a " the other club " or CBA member, but I like the tone and attitude of the CBA as I understand it. If I can tag along with my cage kart and help generate interest in OUR sport, get some seat time, and have fun along the way, it's worth every penny and every minute of time. And I know outsiders and the curious can see the general demeanor of the participants, which will either draw them in or drive them away. Just my 2 cents.... Nick Nelson Outlaw Kart 9x LOL....I could not agree more!!! I once said that the best run racing programs are "dictatorships" and not "clubs". Look at every sprint car track or asphalt track around here...are they run by clubs? No, they are run by a promoter and their staff. They are thick skinned and if you don't like the way their program is run...sorry, go else where. That is what get's CKA in all kinds of trouble is trying to please everyone and make a home (or class) for everyone. Sorry but sometimes you have to piss one person off to keep 5 others! I remember when I first started kart racing...if you didn't have the right motor or you didn't meet the rules....sorry, you don't race until you do. No making exceptions for this and that. Rules are black and white and if you don't have the right motor or aren't old enuf...sorry!

I thought there was a bunch of banking there? Track looks like it has potential. From that angle of picture you are looking "down" the banking so it's hard to see. While that corner does have a bit of bank to it the fast line is at the bottom without using much of the bank. The track is SOOO much better than the first time I went out on the 3rd of July. I was impressed with the amount of work that has been put into it. It's still fresh and needs to keep being worked to reduce the bumps that showed toward the end of the day. Personally I'd like for everyone to get along and be able to go have fun, BBQ/potluck and have a great day of racing with friends and kart fans. I thought the big event at Rainier went well with everyone (I just don't enjoy getting limited track time, and having a track prepped for bikes rather than karts) I haven't been up to Hannagen but it sounds like karts are similar fillers as Rainier. We needed a club to have the clout to get venues like Oakwood and ORV. It put money in the account to pay for things like insurance and ambulances. There was no one person who was willing to pony up the dough as far as I know. If the region had a promoter who wanted to run the karts with no club influence, life would be great. That's one of the reasons it is so much fun to go to other tracks and race. JPS was an awsome track. Jamie put in the track, handled the logistics and we did the scoring and sign in stuff. Nice way to do it. It's a shame it's gone. Club's are a pain in the ass. Somebody always has a better idea or way to do things but when it's time to do it they are nowhere to be found. Those people are never at the meetings to be heard. Just at the track to bitch. Let the promoters handle the track crap, it's for profit right up front. Don't like the rules, don't go. I like the way it seems to be working here. Organize a potluck at a race track and see if a race break's out. I wish I was still racing just to give Dix a slap...........
