From my notes, it's probably in the 9.3 to 9.5 range with 6" wheels for skinny butts.

First off I'm old so who's to say I can remember s#!$ from a year ago but believe I started with a 54 tooth making a 10.26 final and changed to a 55 making a 10.45 final. 6 inch tires running mid pack.

Wayno's example.....6" tires running, 400 plus # and turing how many RPM???
My example....5" tires 330# and turning 13,900 RPM.
Bigger tires = more gear....more weight = more gear...less corner speed = more gear....not smoking anything!
The calculation for 5" tires at say 8.5 gearing would be equivalent to 9.0 with 6" tires....add 70+ more # and less corner speed and yes in a situation you could probably end up being at 10 to run mid pack......

If I got my sheets right, I was running about #415 and turning 14500-14600 after putting the 55 tooth on.

Years ago when Buddha ran his dual kart! I remember him calling me one night after him and Gibber scaled the thing! With him in it.....it was like 520 something! I was like...."Dude thats a quarter of a ton." Buddha goes....." just remember, thats a 1/4 of a ton when it hits your ass too! " Bout 3 weeks later we had the World of Outlaws fun race at Elma. I had my kart completely light weight everything. I even made new nerf bars out of thin wall aluminum! We went out for the heat race and Buddha just barley brushed up against me goin down the back stretch and my kart litterally came apart in a million pieces. Parts went flyin everywhere. We get back to the pits ....."1/4 of a ton right there baby" LMAO! Only buddha~!
